Just a short drive from the cosmopolitan capital city and yet a world away, the silvercoast offers a land of sea and vineyards, gentle rolling hills, cliffs, dunes and wide stretches of sandy beaches which all create a haven of peace and tranquility.

The Silver Coast boasts various cultural sites, the jewel of which would have to be the medieval walled city of Óbidos.
Set atop a limestone hill, Óbidos looks imposing at first but quickly becomes a treasure of intertwining lanes of white houses and narrow cobbled streets with hanging baskets of colourful flowers and walls lined with bougainvillea.

As well as the various cultural and heritage sites, you can also enjoy a variety of sporting activities, including golf, tennis, horse riding, motor sports and of course all the different types of water sport that you can imagine. The coastline is famous for its ideal conditions for surfing and body boarding and hosts every year the surfing world championships.

The area is quickly becoming one of Europe’s newest golfing destinations; three of its established courses have gathered international acclaim.
Praia D´El Rey Golf & Beach Resort, Golden Eagle Residence & Golf Resort, and The Westin Campo Real are arguably three of Portugal’s finest courses and all are situated close to one another making it and ideal base for the golfing enthusiast.

There are currently some 14 plus prestigious new developments under way which will make the Silver Coast one of Europe’s most attractive golf destinations.                 

One cannot talk about the Silver Coast without mentioning the local cuisine and fine wines. There is a great  tradition in seafood,  especially shell fish with lobster, crab and prawns being the local favorites. Some other local specialities include roast kid, piri piri chicken, shellfish rice, and of course the national dish of Bacalhau ( salted cod ).
